So anyone who knows me, knows that I love food. I'd like to share some of my tasteful and sometimes not so tasteful Indonesian experiences with you. First of all, be prepared to get less menus per head and waiters hovering as soon as they give you them. Oh the pressure! Try it in another language... where's my Google translate? Oh the pressure! OK ayam. Ayam is chicken. Fab! I'll have some kaki ayam. Terima kasi.
...Mmmm that smells good. Wait! Ayam is chicken, yes. Kaki? Feet? Hell NO!
Spot the kaki ayam.
I wonder how they work out which table to send the dishes to.
Ok lets head to the market. There is nothing better than the hustle and bustle of a traditional market with plenty of colour and local delicacies to feast your eyes on. The Palembang market offers no less!
These chicken's obviously didn't make it as the cast of Chicken Run.

These ones are still planning their escape.
|
Blurry shrimps, they seem to have a very distinctive sea taste over here.
Other foodie moments along the way.
|
The slippery slope. Sugar? OK. Condensed milk? OK. Coconut? OK. Kidney beans? Oookay? Es teler is an interesting mix.

Amy : "I can't wait for the day I look at the menu and understand what I'm ordering".
I don't think she wanted rice noodles! |
Rendang beef, pineapple curry and rice ketupa.
| Carry case popcorn and a not so edited, edited showing of Ted. However, the seats feel better than lounging on your own sofa. |
Martabak-selling point is it's Indian. Really? Enjoy with butter and more butter, cheese, peanuts, sweet corn, all of the above, as you please.
|
...they were eggs by the way.
So long for now dear pals...i'm sure I will have more food updates for you.
